More About My Services
Equine Sport / Therapeutic Massage
Equine Massage offers a multitude of benefits including injury prevention, recovery / rehabilitation and improved performance.
I use a variety of techniques including therapeutic massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release techniques, as well as a full range of active and passive stretches. Heat and laser therapy is offered as an integral part of the treatments when required.
Before the initial treatment, a full history is taken which includes any previous veterinary issues, ridden or behavioural problems and any other information which may be relevant. In some cases in-hand and / or ridden observations may be required prior to treatment.
The treatment session itself involves a full assessment of the soft tissues and joint mobility of the horse’s body. I then treat the entire musculoskeletal system of the horse, whilst tailoring the treatment and techniques to what I believe will deliver the best results for the horse on that day.
At the end of the treatment I offer follow up advice, this can include where appropriate, targeted active and/or passive stretches, as well as recommendations for further treatment if required.
The treatments are very in depth, so expect them to take time. Treatments can vary from 50 minutes to two hours depending on the horses needs at the time.

Equine Pilates & Stretch
Pilates for horses is a conditioning program which increases core stability, strength and balance. It redresses any imbalances and realigns the body from poll to tail. It will improve posture, relieve tension and achieve a balance between strength & flexibility.
It is used to prevent injury and / or assist rehabilitation. Pilates & Stretch is the best kept secret to increase the horse's strength, balance, mobility, and stability.
The aim is to keep horses working injury free and for those rehabilitating, we aim to ease them safely and speedily back into work following their time off.
Once limitations and weaknesses have been identified through observation. A bespoke programme will be created using stretches, core work exercises, in hand strengthening work and sometimes exercises on the lunge line.
Pre & Post Event Massage
Pre and post event massage is booked by appointment or is, on occasion, offered at specific events where I have partnership affiliations.
These treatments last between 10 and 20 minutes and specifically designed to support the horse before and after the event.
Pre event massage is designed to warm up the tissues of the body in preparation to perform to maximum potential. A further benefit is that it decreases the risk of injury by allowing for a full and proper mechanical motion during exercise. Techniques are adapted to either sooth or stimulate the horse depending on requirements.
Post event massage aims to significantly reduce recovery time. Targeted strokes help to disperse lactic acid and other toxins to aid recovery and reducing stiffness.
Pre or post event treatment - £25 (plus travel cost)
Interferential Pain Relief
Whilst not a substitute for treatment, the interferential machine can be an invaluable tool for pain relief in support of a rehabilitative programme.
Interferential Therapy is a type of electrotherapy treatment that uses electric currents to stimulate tissue which provides pain relief, reduction of swelling and many other health benefits. It uses a range of frequencies that stimulate the body to get positive reactions such as increasing the blood supply in an area which in turn increases the healing speed.
Courses & Clinics
Courses and Clinics run year-round throughout the country. The most popular are the One-day Equine Massage for Horse Owners Course and the Half-day Pilates for Horses Clinic.
I run a schedule of these courses at partner venues throughout the year (please click here to see events on my Facebook page for the latest scheduled courses / clinics) or you can book to host either a course or clinic at your yard for a minimum of 6 attendees. Please get in touch if you'd like to be a host yard? (travel costs may apply)
Please note attendance on the courses / clinics do not qualify you to treat any horse other than your own. The skills you learn enable you to support your horse between treatments from your qualified therapist.

Half day Clinic – Pilates for Horses – £45pp (min 6 attendees)
